TOWN WARRANT

TO: William Shaw, Constable of the Town of Canaan, County of Somerset

Greetings:

In the name of the State of Maine, you are hereby requested to notify and warn the Inhabitants of the Town of Canaan, in said county, qualified to vote in town affairs to meet and assemble at the new Canaan Fire Station on Saturday, the 17th day of March, 2001 at 10:00 am to transact all business as herein enumerated in the articles of the Town warrant, and to assemble at the Canaan Town Hall on Monday, the 19th day of March, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm to elect all town officials.

ARTICLE 1: To choose a moderator to preside at said meeting.

ARTICLE 2: To see what method the Inhabitants of the Town of Canaan will adopt for collection of taxes in the year 2001.

A. All taxes are due and payable upon commitment.

B. Advance or partial payments may be made.

C. To allow a 2% discount on all taxes paid in full within 30 days.

D. Charge interest at the rate of 11.5% per annum, after 30 days from the date of mailing.

E. All taxes outstanding on January 31, 2002 will be listed in the Town Report.

F. Authorize the Selectmen, on behalf of the Town to sell and dispose of any real estate acquired by the Town for non-payment of taxes thereon, at price no less than the unpaid taxes plus interest and costs, and to execute a quit claim deed without covenant for such property.

Roads proposed for public acceptance shall also meet the inspection requirements of this section."
